Jocelyn
Johnson is a seasoned public relations executive and founder
of Gravitas Communications. With more than a decade of
experience in public relations, Jocelyn founded Gravitas Communications
to provide her clients with the right mix of large agency strategic
thinking and a boutique agency level of service and commitment
to excellence.
Previously, she was a Senior Vice President
and core management team member at the award-winning Sloane & Company,
a financial and corporate PR firm in New York City. While
at Sloane, she managed both public and private technology,
BtoB, media and consumer accounts.
She was responsible for developing and
executing multi-platform programs for major clients including
About.com, AltaVista Software, BearingPoint/Google, Bauer Publishing,
Cablevision’s Rainbow Media, Hearst Magazines, In Touch
Weekly, Life & Style Weekly, Motor Trend, Modern Luxury
Publications, Much Music USA, New York Magazine, Starbucks
and Seventeen Magazine.
Ms. Johnson joined Sloane & Company
from Middleberg + Associate's consumer new media division where
she worked on e-commerce and entertainment-related accounts
including news/weather provider AccuWeather, electronics retailer
Brandwise.com, music retailer CDNow, community site CollegeClub.com,
diamond and gemstone retailer Mondera and launches for Viacom’s
MTV and Nickelodeon Web sites.
Prior to Middleberg, Ms. Johnson worked
in Shandwick International's consumer/new media division on
a variety of clients including Microsoft's Interactive and
Hardware divisions (Carpoint, Sidewalk, Expedia and ActiMates),
Cowles Business Media, and Renaissance Cruises among others. Additionally,
she specialized in event planning, executing more than 24 industry
trade shows and press events across vertical markets.
Ms. Johnson began her career in marketing
with Collegiate Marketing, Inc. where she worked with national
brand managers from L'Oreal, SmithKlein-Beecham, and Proctor & Gamble
in developing sampling programs in the college market.
Before starting her career in public relations, Ms. Johnson
spent several years in store-line retail as the district manager
for the Limited’s Bath and Body Works in Manhattan.
Ms. Johnson graduated with a Bachelor of
Business Administration in marketing and merchandising from
Parsons School of Design.
