FIRSTBORN TAKES OFF RUNNING WITH
25TH ANNIVERSARY OF REEBOK’S FREESTYLE
- Iconic Sneaker goes Online to
Help Women Find Their Inner Freestyle -
New York, NY – April, 2007 – Firstborn,
a bicoastal technology and design studio, today unveiled
the full scale launch of an interactive Web site www.rbk.com/us/freestyle dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Reebok Freestyle,
Reebok’s most popular and iconic women’s athletic
shoe.
The Web site, conceived and developed by Firstborn www.firstbornmutlimedia.com,
showcases the new line of reissued shoes called Freestyle
Specials.
Like the sneaker did two decades ago, the Web site invites
women to incorporate the shoe into their lifestyle, whether
it is irreverent and carefree or chic and sophisticated. The
site features a personality quiz that encourages women to “find
your own Freestyle.” After answering a short
series of questions, the user’s answers are matched
to the Freestyle style which most closely resembles their
unique personality traits.
“Working closely with Reebok, we designed a site that
captures the meaning and influence of this iconic brand. The
essence of the Freestyle is freedom, independence and individuality. We
captured these qualities and engaged women whether they lived
through the 80s and remember the shoe or may have been too
young but appreciate Freestyle’s retro appeal. The
idea was to create a multi-generational bond between the
product and women in the marketplace,” said Tim Nolan,
lead producer on the Reebok project for Firstborn.
The Freestyle Specials are limited and are available in
16 styles. The varied line-up features a color palette
of neon, metallic and monochrome and prints ranging from
bowling balls to dog bones - an assortment even 80’s
icon Punky Brewster could envy.
